Agility Robotics spun out of Oregon State University's Dynamic Robotics Laboratory, where founder Jonathan Hurst developed the Cassie bipedal research platform. The company's Digit robot is one of only two humanoids (alongside Tesla Optimus) with demonstrated large-scale commercial deployment, operating in Amazon fulfillment centers. CEO Peggy Johnson, former Microsoft EVP and Qualcomm executive, joined in 2023 to lead the commercialization push; Amazon's participation as lead Series B investor provides both capital and the world's largest warehouse deployment network.
